About Pete

Pete Green started dancing  in 2001 when he was 19, and since then has been traveling the world teaching, competing, and most of all learning from the wide variety of people and experiences through his dance journey.

Pete is a Champion-level dancer in both West Coast Swing and Lindy Hop. Also drawing from ballroom, jazz, latin, african, hip hop, and ballet, Pete brings a unique perspective and style to swing dancing.

He has lived and taught in every major swing dance community on the Pacific west coast, and is currently based in Los Angeles, California.

Since 2007 he has been studying the Alexander Technique and some other somatic related works. He has recently been working with John Appleton of Posture Release Imagery, and works to incorporate these theories of healthy movement, dynamic balance and tension release into his dancing and teaching.
Believing that dance is a very human part of us, and should originate from within, Pete places a strong emphasis on both the technique and the heart of dance in his group and private classes.

In November 2010, Pete was inducted into the California Swing Dance Hall of Fame for his swing dance accomplishments.

Pete is the co-founder of a popular moving-venue WCS dance located in the Los Angeles area and beyond. It is called Where’s Westie – and you can check it out at http://www.WheresWestie.com

With 10+ years of experience with Adobe software, Pete is also a graphic artist and photographer. Check out Pete’s Design Page.
